The Museum of Ancient Life

Ryan went to St. George over the weekend. The morning he left, Bridger was so upset because he was sure since Dad was leaving the weekend would be full of boring no-things to do. I took as an opportunity to show the kids that Mom, no matter how busy, knows how to still have fun too!

So I took the kids to The Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. We had a blast. Since I am better at Pictures than words..................

The kids stood by this dinosaur foot and looked up to see how much bigger a dinosaur is than they are. You can tell by the expressions of thier faces just how big the dinosaurs really are.

We almost got eaten by this Utahraptor.

The kids got to build their own dinosaur valleys. They loved this -

Bridger loved to build dams and let the water rise as high as he could. Then he would break down the middle of the damn and create a canyon for the water to go through.

I loved watching Caroline's little hands work in the sand. I just had to take a picture of her cute little hands.

Carter liked being attacked by the animals. He thought it was so funny.

Kaitlyn was a crack up the whole time. It is getting really fun because she likes to take silly pictures with me.

Even though Carter couldn't get down and play with the kids he loved being a part of it. I had him strapped to the front of me and I think he was thinking all the extra time with Mommy was pretty cool too.

Finally, the kids had a chance to dig up some dinosaur bones of their own.

We had such a great time. After we went to the Ice cream shop and shared two ice cream sundaes, then went to blockbuster and got a bunch of movies.

Hopefully I proved to the kids that Mom isn't all about chores, homework, and "boring stuff" like that.

Our New Trailer

Yep! You read right. We purchased a 2006 Crossroads Zinger. I love KSL. We got such a great deal on this trailer and are so excited to finally own one. I didn't even need to give Ryan a paper bag to breathe into (for all you who know how hard it is for Ryan to spend money). I am so proud of him. The previous owners have used it only three or four times, so it is in excellent shape.

When we found it on KSL, there where no pictures of it and it was in Vernal, but I just had an undeniable feeling that this was the one. About two hours into the drive, Ryan said he couldn't believe we were driving to Vernal on my gut feeling. But my guts proved worthy.

And now for the Grand Tour...........

This is the bathroom. One of the many wonderful luxuries of camping with a trailer

Here is the middle of the trailer- The couch and table pull out to beds. The oven and stove have never been used so they are brand new.

We slept out in the trailer Saturday night. The kids love it and are so excited. The bottom is a double and the top is a twin. So there is plenty of room for the kiddies to spread out.

This is our bedroom. It also closes off so we can stick the kids in here and put on a movie when they are all worn out from playing all day.

Here is the outside of the trailer. We can't wait to take it out this spring and summer. I can't believe I no longer have to sleep on the rocks and worry about the bear and mountain lions getting us. Not to mention.....No more squating! Yea!!!

WARNING!!!!!

Caroline stuck this label on Carter while I was canning. When I read what it said I just had to laugh:
!Warning!: Read and understand instruction manual before operating this unit. If you have not been supplied with a manuel, ask for one. Failure to follow instructions and/or improper use may result in scalding, bodily injuries or EXPLOSION.

So that Explains the explosions. I wish I was supplied with a manuel.

Kindergarter in Detention?

You might be asking yourself- How could such a sweet little face get in such big trouble?

Bridger and a couple friends decided that they wanted to take their own little field trip at recess on Friday. The went out into the road, where they tried to flag down cars and get them to honk thier horns. Not only did they get in trouble, but thier poor teacher did too. So Friday after school, Bridger was grounded to his room for three hours (while he was in his bedroom, I got online and ordered two books- "Christ-like parenting" and "How to talk so they will listen and listen so they will talk") then he had to write an apology note to his teacher and then he spent recess today in detention. When I picked him up from school today, I asked him how school was- expecting the worst, I was very surprised when he replied. "Really Good." So I continued to probe. "What about recess." I asked. "It was great, Mom. We got to go in the office and sit. I loved it."

Oh boy! So I told him if he promises to be good at school from now on, I will take him to the office and we can sit thier for hours if he wants.

What am I supposed to do with that? Any ideas?

Never a dull moment with our little Caroline. The other night I put her in time out. When I came in to talk to her she was pressing a stamp pad to her face.

I yelled to Ryan for some help, but he couldn't stop laughing at her.
Later he took her in the bathroom to wash her off and there was so much ink on her face that it just spread the blue ink across her entire face. She looked like a smurf for about a day and a 1/2.

I am learning you don't get as upset over these things if you learn to laugh at them.

Thank you Ryan for teaching me not to sweat the small stuff.

So Much To Be Thankful For!

This week I have felt very discouraged by all the stressful things going on in the world and by the huge and sometimes overwhelming task of being a good wife and mother. Sometimes I feel like I am swimming against the current.

This morning, I decided to sit down and take a look at my beautiful family and remember the wonderful things about life and forget about the stress and craziness that is always on my mind.

I have so much to be thankful for and pray that I will be able to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. It helps me stay grounded and realize what life is really about.

What I learned today:

Life is to short and precious to waste it on stress and fear. Take it one day at a time and enjoy every moment.

Thank you Cortney for taking these pictures for me. I can't tell you how often I look at them and remember what life is trully about.

Rice Cereal- Yum Yum!!

This is Carter's first taste of Rice cereal.

After a lot of spiting and gaging, he finally figured out how to choke it down.

What a mess. I finally decided we would save the spoon for green beans, and I poked a bigger hole in his bottle and have been feeding it to him that way- Much cleaner and not as much gagging.
